New York-born Alicia Keys began taking piano lessons at age seven at her mother's insistence. She proved to be such a prodigy that she was later accepted into he prestigious Professional Performance Arts School of Manhattan, where she majored in choir. Not only her musical talent but also her grades proved to be so exceptional that she was allowed to graduate as Valedictorian at age 16. In 1998 she signed with Arista Records, and wrote, produced and recorded her own albums. In 1999 she left Arista to join J Records, headed by legendary music impresario Clive Davis, and her success has been meteoric. Ashlee Simpson was born on October 3, 1984, to Joe and Tina Simpson. Ashlee started dancing at the age of 4 and by the time she was 11 enjoyed the status of being the youngest person ever admitted to the prestigious School of American Ballet. By 14, Ashlee was dancing professionally on the road with her older sister, pop singer Jessica Simpson. Ashlee spent 1999-2001 on tour supporting her sibling and garnering her own fan-base. Having recently celebrated her 18th birthday, Simpson is now set to stake her own claim in the entertainment world. She appeared on the big screen last year in the film The Hot Chick alongside Rob Schneider. She already has television appearances under her belt, including a guest-starring role on Malcolm In the Middle. -What Does "Evanescence" mean? "ev·a·nesce": To dissipate or disappear like vapor. -Where was the band formed? In Little Rock, Arkansas -When did the band meet? Amy and Ben met at camp while Amy was playing Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything for Love" on the piano. David joined the band later around the Origin later and stayed during most of the recording of Fallen. John, Rocky, and Will joined the band after Fallen was released and Terry joined after Ben's departure in 2004. -Were Rocky and Will envolved in Evanescence before Fallen? Rocky and Will played on the EP in 1998. Will played bass, guitar, and background vocals on Solitude. Rocky played drums on "Understanding." Will also played bass on "Away From Me" on Origin. -When did Evanescence first get radio air play? KLEC-FM in Little Rock, Ar was the first radio station to play an Evanescence song. -When was the Evanescence EP released? The first EP was released in December of 1998 on CDR at a show in Little Rock. Only 100 were printed and all were sold out. -When was the Whisper/Sound Asleep EP released? It was released in August of 1999 on CDR. Only 50 copies of it were made. -When Was Origin released? Origin was released on November 4, 2000. Only 2000 copies of it were made. It was first sold at a show in Little Rock. -Were any tracks left off Origin that were recorded? One song, Listen To The Rain, which featured a choir, was cut from the mix.
